Epson Stylus SX400

If your looking for a device that is capable of printing, scanning and photo copying and are on a tight budget the Epson Stylus SX400 maybe worth a look. It price tag of under £70 is reasonable and cheaper than most of it competitors and the running costs are also reasonable at £30 for a full set of printer ink cartridges. The Epson SX400 ink cartridges consist of four separate printer inks which means only the colours that get used need to be replaced. If £30 seems too expensive there are compatible Epson ink cartridges avaible for the SX400 which cost around half the price of the OEM cartridges and print the same amount. A number of people buy into the rubbish that compatible ink cartridges will damage your printer but this has no basis in fact. No matter what type of ink cartridges you’re using the SX400 produces great results, the print quality is equal to that of a printer twice its price and it can produce great prints as well as all the standard everyday documents. Printing speed is a little slow despite the claimed 34ppm (pages per minute) on the spec sheet, the SX400 is only capable of producing 10ppm at best and even then the draft quality is barely legible. The scanner has no such problem with speed and produces great quality with it maximum 1200dpi resolution. The photocopier function which makes use of the same A4 flat bed scanner works without the necessity of a computer and is a very convenient feature for producing copies of documents in a hurry. Epson have done well to offer the SX400 at such a low price but this does makes you wonder what lies beneath the skin in terms of quality and how long with it last.
