Affordable colour laser printer – Samsung CLP-300N

With a desktop footprint similar to that of an inkjet printer, the CLP-300n will fit just about anywhere and makes it perfect for the home environment as it can be installed in a small space with dominating the whole room. The CLP-300n also has a price tag closer to that of a inkjet printer rather than a laser as do its consumables. Samsung CLP-300n toner cartridges consist of four Samsung toner cartridges each of which yield 1,000 pages with exception of the black which yields twice as much (2,000 pages). This gives the CLP-300n reasonable running costs of 2p for black and 10p for colour on an average cost per page basis. There not much to complain about the CLP-300n in terms of print quality, monochrome and colour prints are sharp for both text and graphics. Although it only holds 150 sheets the CLP-300n has a versatile paper tray that can be adjusted to hold different sizes of media. In terms of ease of use, the paper tray is probably the most complex part of the printer, everything about the CLP-300n has been made very simple, from initial setup to changing the printer cartridges. The weakness point of the CLP-300n is probably the print speed, while the monochrome printing has a reasonably good 16ppm the colour is a rather poor 4ppm. This coupled with the fact that the paper tray only hold 150 sheet means the CLP-300n is not best suited to large print runs on a regular basis. These weaknesses don’t take away from the fact that the CLP-300n is a great value for money printer that is well suited to home and small office users.
